Our story
From the Netherlands to waters everywhere.
RodRookies began with a simple frustration: good fishing information was scattered, overly local or written as if every beginner already knew the language.

Why we built RodRookiesWhy we exist
We had the same questions.
We are a small team from the Netherlands with a shared love for fishing, nature and learning how water works. When we searched online, one article explained rods without reels, another listed products without context, and local rules were often mixed with advice presented as universal.
We believed a beginner should be able to understand the whole system in one place. That is why RodRookies is written in English and built for an international audience. We explain universal principles clearly, while reminding every angler that access, licences, seasons and protected species must be checked locally.

Our mission
Make the first cast feel possible.
We help new anglers choose less, understand more and arrive at the water prepared.
That means connecting biology, weather, equipment, technique, safety and fish care—because successful fishing is never just about buying a rod.
Our principles
What readers can expect
Beginner-first
Plain explanations, practical sequences and honest definitions before specialist detail.
International
Advice that travels across borders, with clear separation between universal technique and local law.
Responsible
Safety, fish welfare, habitat respect and legal fishing are part of every good recommendation.
Commercially transparent
Affiliate relationships are disclosed clearly. A commission never replaces a reasoned recommendation.
How we work
Information before promotion.
Our recommendation process
- Define the water, method and target fish.
- Identify the equipment function that genuinely matters.
- Compare specifications, compatibility, value and availability.
- Explain who the product is for—and who should skip it.
- Label affiliate links visibly and update outdated recommendations.
